Shout! Factory Takes a Dip With ‘Swimming to Cambodia’

1 Mar, 2013 By: Ashley Ratcliff

The 1987 film Swimming to Cambodia gets its first official U.S. DVD release May 28 from Shout! Factory.

Writer-actor Spaulding Grey spent eight weeks in Southeast Asia playing the role of the ambassador’s aide in the Academy Award-winning The Killing Fields (1984). Inspired by his experiences there, Gray shares his colorful journey in making the film, from the 66 takes of his first scene to encounters with Thai marijuana, the history of Cambodia and the people who run the massage parlors and sex bars.

Bonus material includes a commentary with director Jonathan Demme.

Swimming to Cambodia is listed at $19.93.
