Redbox Ups Matt James to SVP of Operations

Redbox Sept. 2 announced the promotion of Matt James to SVP of operations and merchandising. James most recently was VP of inventory and logistics.

James, who is based out of the kiosk-vendor’s Chicago headquarters, spearheads a team of more than 1,400 employees across Redbox's field operations, machine support, inventory, logistics, strategy and analytics teams. His team oversees inventory stocking and optimization, title merchandising, kiosk repair and preventative maintenance across the network.

"Over his past four years at Redbox, Matt has excelled across several leadership roles and we look forward to leveraging his diverse experience to constantly improve the customer experience," Redbox president Mark Horak said in a statement. "The exceptional customer experience Redbox brings every renter is only made possible through our highly efficient, world-class network.”

Indeed, Redbox operates more than 40,000 kiosks at nearly 34,000 retail locations nationwide. The kiosks’ operational network generated an average of two million rentals per day in 2014, or about 723 million rentals.

“When you're operating at the incredible scale Redbox does, it takes a highly effective leader like Matt and a passionate team to make the systems run like a well-oiled machine,” Horak said.
