Donald B. Krim
Donald B. Krim, president of independent film label Kino International and co-president of Kino Lorber Inc., died at his New York home May 20 from cancer. He was 65.
The Newton, Mass. native helped bring many classic indie films to disc at Kino, including films by Wong Kar-Wai and Michael Haneke. He received the Mel Novikoff Award from the San Francisco Film Festival in 2000 for his work in world cinema and in 2006 received the William K. Everson Award for Film History, given by the National Board of Review, among other honors.
He is survived by his wife, Susan Benjamin, and their children, Miriam and Simon.
A public funeral service will take place May 23 at 11:45 a.m. at Riverside Memorial Chapel at 180 West 76th Street in New York. A memorial service is planned in late June.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to the Fresh Air Fund, the Leukemia Lymphoma Society and Red Hook Rise. Donations to Red Hook Rise can be sent to 481 Van Brunt St. 2nd Floor, Brooklyn, N.Y., 11231.
