Lionsgate Oct. 6 named Julie Uhrman to the newly created position of EVP and GM of Lionsgate Over-The-Top Ventures — a unit spearheading the studio’s burgeoning digital platforms, including Tribeca Shortlist, Comic-Con HQ, a Spanish-language movie service and comic Kevin Hart’s upcoming service, Laugh Out Loud.

In addition to exploring new opportunities, Uhrman will work with the management of each of the four channels on content, curation and marketing strategies and help expand the domestic and international distribution footprints of each service across digital, cable, telecom and satellite platforms.

She’ll also work closely with other OTT-video focused executives, including co-COO Brian Goldsmith; Jim Packer, president of worldwide television and digital distribution; Peter Levin, president of interactive ventures and games; and Laura Kennedy, EVP of television operations and corporate development.

"Julie brings to the continued development of our streaming services great vision, entrepreneurial spirit and a strong track record of growing digital media platforms," CEO Jon Feltheimer said in a statement. "She is the perfect choice to round out an executive team with the complementary skills and vision to position our growing suite of online channels to serve next generation consumers around the world."

Uhrman previously served as head of platform business development at Jaunt, Inc., a cinematic virtual reality company. She was also founder of OUYA, the first Android-based game console for television, which she later sold to Razer.
