BBC Worldwide North America has appointed Sergei Kuharsky EVP of franchise and digital enterprises.

In his new role, Kuharsky will be responsible for growing revenue across the businesses in BBC Worldwide’s Digital Enterprise and Franchise Management portfolio, which includes e-commerce, home entertainment, consumer products, live events, retail and BBC Learning. Additionally, he will pursue creating and expanding partnerships for such franchises as "Top Gear," "Doctor Who" and "BBC Earth." He will continue to report to Ann Sarnoff, president of BBC Worldwide North America.

"Sergei has an impressive track record of astutely building brands by seamlessly extending them into products and experiences that deepen fan connections," Sarnoff said. "I've worked with Sergei on and off for many years and have no doubt that he will build the BBC brands and business across the U.S. and Canada."

Kuharsky joined BBC Worldwide North America in April 2016, most recently serving as SVP of strategy and business development.

"I have the deepest respect for the quality and imagination of the BBC’s content,” Kuharsky said.

Kuharsky joined BBC Worldwide North America from Scripps Networks Interactive, where during his eight-year tenure as GM for Food Network he led the brand’s expansion strategy and built SNI’s consumer products portfolio. Prior to SNI, Kuharsky was EVP of sales and marketing at In Demand Networks, where he created and launched HD, MOD and SVOD services including Howard Stern TV.

Formerly, Kuharsky held the position of SVP of brand and franchise marketing at MTV Network’s Nickelodeon Channel.  He also worked as head of marketing for both Warner Home Entertainment and Disney Home Video.
