Inception Media Hires Former Image Entertainment Execs

Inception Media Group Dec. 19 announced the hiring of two home entertainment industry veterans, Steven DeMille and Garrett Lee.

DeMille and Lee most recently held executive positions with Image Entertainment, where Inception co-founder David Borshell was also a longtime executive, including the position of president.

DeMille assumes the position of EVP of marketing and sales, and is responsible for directing all of Los Angeles-based Inception’s marketing, sales, customer service and licensor relation efforts.

While at Image, DeMille oversaw all marketing and creative efforts for the company’s direct-to-video and theatrical film releases as well is its branded labels, including Discovery Channel, MacGillivray Freeman Films and Levity Entertainment Group.

Lee holds the title EVP of product development, and is responsible for spearheading production and acquisition efforts surrounding comedy, Broadway, music and other high-profile special-interest programming.

During Lee’s tenure at Image, he oversaw comedy releases from Jeff Dunham, Kevin Hart, Jeff Foxworthy, Larry the Cable Guy and Ron White, as well as label responsibility for Discovery Channel, The Criterion Collection and a number of Stephen Sondheim properties. Music titles included such artists as Earth, Wind & Fire, Chicago, Bette Midler, The Eagles, Michael Feinstein, Sheryl Crowe, Nancy Sinatra, The Who and The Moody Blues, among others.

“The addition of Steven and Garrett to the company brings us a wealth of knowledge, experience and expertise, encompassing the most important aspects of content acquisition and distribution,” said Andy Reimer, managing member with Inception.

Managing member Borshell added, “We continue to make great strides in building our overall business and take pride in the team we have assembled.”
