IFTA Taps Garnick, Ups Burt

4 May, 2011

The Independent Film & Television Alliance has named Jennifer Garnick VP of communications and has promoted eight-year IFTA veteran Robin Burt to VP of marketing and membership. Both will report to Jean Prewitt, IFTA president and CEO, and Jonathan Wolf, EVP of IFTA and managing director of the American Film Market.

Garnick, previously with Buzzmedia, will handle overall communications strategy, including social media, and will be involved in planning and putting on AFM. Burt, formerly the organization’s director of marketing, will continue to oversee AFM marketing and sponsorship activities, and now also will spearhead worldwide membership recruitment for IFTA, as well as manage outreach for IFTA Collections, a nonprofit service dedicated to collecting secondary royalty income for its members.

“Jennifer and Robin have proven themselves to be strong executives with a deep understanding of the independent film and television business, as well as a wealth of creativity and contacts,” Prewitt said. “This marks a reunion of sorts with Jennifer, who impressed us previously when we worked closely with her as a key member of our outside communications team. Robin has played an integral role in the success of the AFM throughout much of the past decade and this promotion recognizes the increasing role he has assumed in representing IFTA to the industry.”
