Hagen Named SVP at Universal Brand Development

Michelle Hagen has been named SVP of consumer products retail development at Universal Brand Development, where she will lead the strategic development and implementation of Universal’s consumer products at retail, driving programs that build long-term franchises as well as maximize revenue of Universal’s entertainment portfolio of theatrical and television properties. She will also be evaluating key insights and tracking measures and identifying critical areas of growth as retail evolves.

“Michelle has a strong and comprehensive understanding of the Universal brand and has proven to be highly successful in elevating our franchises and properties in the global consumer marketplace,” said Manuel Torres Port, EVP of worldwide consumer products for Universal Brand Development. “We are thrilled to welcome her to the team as her extensive experience will be instrumental in launching new retail initiatives, while further extending our brand across the globe.”

Hagen has more than 25 years of film marketing experience, and since 2006 has been with Universal Pictures, where as SVP of global partnership marketing she was responsible for the strategic development, creation and negotiation of global theatrical and DVD partnerships for Universal Pictures. Hagen helped spearhead global campaigns for such franchise titles as Despicable Me, Fast & Furious, Fifty Shades of Grey, Pitch Perfect, Jurassic World and The Secret Life of Pets.

An entertainment industry veteran with more than 25 years of film marketing experience, Hagen joined Universal in 2006 after managing her own partnership marketing agency, The Hagen Company, where she worked with clients such as Universal Pictures & Focus Features, Sony Pictures, Lionsgate, Paramount Pictures and Warner Bros.
