Film Movement Announces Presidency Shift

10 Mar, 2015 By: John Latchem

Indie distributor Film Movement announced March 10 that co-president Adley Gartenstein, who joined the company in 2003, will sell his remaining ownership of the company to Michael E. Rosenberg, the former eOne executive who joined the company in March 2014 as co-president. Gartenstein will make his exit from the distributor on March 20, and Rosenberg will continue as president of Film Movement.

Gartenstein took the helm at Film Movement in 2007 following several years focused on acquisitions and business development. Under his leadership, the company expanded its staff and distribution activities as well as its annual release slate, building a catalog of more than 200 titles.

“Adley has built a wonderful team and superb relationships with our business partners over the years, and it has been a great honor and a true pleasure working with him,” Rosenberg said in a statement. “We wish Adley the best of luck in his next endeavors.”

“Film Movement has accomplished many wonderful things in the 13 years I’ve been with the company, and now I look forward to new and exciting challenges ahead,” Gartenstein said. “I’m so very thankful to the incredible Film Movement team. I am proud of the movies we have distributed and of who we are as a company.  I have every confidence that Michael will do a great job leading Film Movement into its next chapter.”
