The Digital Living Network Alliance has elected Amol Bhagwat, senior architect at CableLabs, to its board of directors.
He joins representatives from Broadcom, Intel, Microsoft, Nokia, Panasonic, Samsung, Sony and Technicolor, who are tasked with overseeing DLNA standards that allow enabled devices to communicate with each other, regardless of manufacturer.
“DLNA is committed to working with service providers to bring premium commercial video to products in the digital home,” said Nidhish Parikh, chairman and president of DLNA. “CableLabs is a DLNA promoter member, and their work within the alliance and the cable industry demonstrates their dedication to the evolution of cable networks, services and operations.”
CableLabs is a nonprofit research and development consortium dedicated to technical advancements in the cable industry.
“CableLabs strongly believes in the development and widespread adoption of market-based standards approaches such as DLNA,” Bhagwat said. “As a leader in commercial and consumer cable technologies, CableLabs shares DLNA’s vision for the delivery of high-value content to an interoperable network of connected consumer products.”
