Responding to the growth of its physical home entertainment operation, Alchemy Sept. 1 announced the hiring of Jack Talley as EVP of physical distribution. Talley will oversee sales and overall strategy of Alchemy’s disc sales, reporting to CEO Bill Lee.
Talley has more than three decades of experience in the home entertainment industry, including 10 years as EVP at Sony Pictures Home Entertainment. Prior to joining SPHE, Talley oversaw MGM’s grocery and drug sales division and played an integral role in the strategic development and implementation of the Scan Based Trading business model.
“Jack brings to Alchemy a wealth of knowledge from his experience working with both independent and major studio home entertainment releases,” Lee said in a statement. “He is the optimal executive to continue Alchemy’s success in the physical distribution space and we are very fortunate to have him on our team.”
Talley’s hiring follows Alchemy’s acquisition earlier this summer of the film distribution assets of ANconnect, the physical distribution arm of Anderson Media Corporation, whose clients include DreamWorks Animation, Microsoft and WellGo USA.
Alchemy (formerly Millennium Entertainment) also formed a distribution alliance with Arc Entertainment, supplier of faith and family content to Walmart and other national retailers. These transactions underscore Alchemy as the largest, non-studio aggregator for Walmart, Target, Best Buy and Sam’s Club.
