'Star Trek: The Next Generation' First Season on Blu-ray in July

Paramount Home Media Distribution and CBS Home Entertainment have slated Star Trek: The Next Generation — Season One for Blu-ray release July 24.

The six-disc set includes all 26 episodes from the 1987-88 season remastered for high-definition and 7.1 DTS-HD master audio. The visual effects have been re-created from original elements for optimal HD quality.

Extras include episode promos, a featurette about remastering the show for HD, a new retrospective featurette about the creation of the show, and archived extras from the original DVD release from 2002.

The show chronicled the adventures of the starship Enterprise in the 24th century and starred Patrick Stewart, Jonathan Frakes, Brent Spiner, Michael Dorn, LeVar Burton, Marina Sirtis, Gates McFadden and Wil Wheaton.

A sampler of episodes from the show was released on Blu-ray in January.
