Sony Bows 'Ghostbusters' Virtual Reality App

On the heels of Sony Pictures Home Entertainment's release of Ghostbusters: Answer the Call on disc, the studio has launched the Ghostbusters VR — Now Hiring app for iOS and Android mobile platforms.

The is free with purchase of the 4K UHD/3D Blu-ray Disc combo pack purchase, or available separately for $4.99 through Google Play or The Apple App Store.

It can be used on a compatible iPhone or Android smartphone with a compatible VR viewing device such as Merge VR Goggles or Google Cardboard. Users without a mobile VR viewer can experience the app in 360 video mode.

Notably, Sony recommends the app and goggles be used only when seated. The studio said “all instructions” included should be followed before use and such use should not continue if any discomfort or health reactions are experienced.

“The VR mobile experience is a fun, interactive experience that will delight the ultimate Ghostbusters fan,” Lexine Wong, senior EVP of worldwide marketing for SPHE, said in a statement.
