Eric Wilkinson named director of home video sales and acquisitions
Independent distributor MVD Entertainment Jan. 16 announced the North American launch of Arrow Video, an offshoot label of U.K.-based Arrow Films — the latter recently acquired by MVD.
Arrow Video is a distributor of classic, world, cult and horror movies on DVD & Blu-ray Disc, among other formats.
Heading Arrow Video is Eric Wilkinson, just named director of home video sales and acquisitions at MVD. Wilkinson began his career in home entertainment at Sight and Sound in 1990 and has held positions at MGM Home Entertainment, Starz/Anchor Bay and Kino Lorber.
“While MVD has experienced amazing growth in both digital and VOD sales and rentals, there’s plenty of life left in packaged media for studio catalog and indie films,” Wilkinson said in a statement.
Arrow Video titles include Tonino Valerii’s spaghetti western Day of Anger (I Giorni dell’ira), starring Lee Van Cleef and Giuliano Gemma; Michael Armstrong’s Mark of the Devil; and yakuza-samurai-ghost story-horror hybrid from Teruo Ishii, Blind Woman’s Curse (1971, also known as Black Cat’s Revenge).
Mark of the Devil bows March 17 on Blu-ray, followed by Blind Woman’s Curse March 24 and Day of Anger March 31 ($39.95 each). Massacre Gun, Blood and Black Lace and The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Miss Osbourne follow in April with further titles to be announced and released throughout the year.
The disc releases portend a strong future in home entertainment, according to Ed Seaman, COO of MVD.
“Arrow Video greatly strengthens our overall offerings. And adding Eric to our team allows us to deliver on our promise to serve artists and audiences. Eric is a superstar and we are confident in his abilities to lead our video business growth,” Seaman said in a statement.
