10 Nov, 2006 By: Billy Gil

Microsoft Corp. and Universal Music Group (UMG) Nov. 9 announced an agreement in which Microsoft will pay a portion of the sales of its digital media player Zune to UMG, in addition to payment for sales of UMG music.

Microsoft's Zune device and online store launches Nov. 14. The store will include content from major and independent music labels, in addition to that of UMG.

Microsoft plans to make similar offers to other music labels and their artists. The company said it is dedicated to supporting music labels and artists.
