DEG Kicks Off Forum for Women in Home Entertainment With Screening
11 Jun, 2014 By: Stephanie PrangeDEG: the Digital Entertainment Group June 30 will hold a Canon Club screening for women in home entertainment of the documentary Miss Representation.
The screening will take place at the Lionsgate Theater in Santa Monica and starts at 4 p.m.
The DEG created the forum, "Canon Club: Where Women in Home Entertainment Meet," for women in home entertainment to come together to learn, share and engage.
"The DEG is proud to present the Canon Club to offer a forum for women in home entertainment to meet," said Amy Jo Smith, president of DEG. "We held a meeting with a dozen women representing all facets of home entertainment businesses, and all agreed that bringing female executives together could only benefit everyone by providing a means to share, learn and empower each other. We are looking forward to our first meeting hosted by Deloitte at Lionsgate.”
The documentary Miss Representation exposes how mainstream media sources contribute to the underrepresentation of women in positions of power and influence and challenges the media’s portrayal of women and girls.
Following the screening will be a brief discussion about the film.
