UPDATE: Netflix Site, Streaming Back Up

Netflix’s website and streaming platform came back online Sunday evening (June 19) after temporarily leaving millions of subscribers unable to access their rental queues for both physical and digital entertainment.

“We are sorry, the Netflix website and the ability to instantly watch movies are both temporarily unavailable,” the Los Gatos, Calif.-based online disc rental pioneer posted on its site shortly after unknown technical issues arose during the late afternoon.

The company, which said its engineers were working to correct the internal problem, maintained the setback would not affect regularly scheduled disc shipments.

Technical issues with Netflix streaming have periodically occurred before – often due to challenges handling surges in streaming traffic – but this marked the first time the entire website was impacted as well.
