Roku to Bow Netflix Channel

Roku, manufacturer of an Internet-enabled media player, May 5 said it would next month launch a channel devoted to Netflix streaming.
Saratoga, Calif.-based Roku cut its teeth in 2008 as the first media device to stream Netflix movies onto the television.
Last year Roku unveiled a channel platform that allows device holders to access third-party content, including major league baseball, NBA, music and adult fare.
The new Netflix channel (see demo at ), which is compatible with all new and existing Roku players, will be available via a free, automatic software update.
It allows Netflix subscribers to search the company’s entire library from their TV screen, browse and play movies and TV shows on the TV via a new immersive user interface, and add content to their Instant Queue for later viewing.
Roku sells three media players (including a high-definition unit) online priced from $79 and up.
