Series from “Breaking Bad” producers streams concurrently with weekly U.S. broadcasts
Netflix has begun streaming episodes from Sundance Channel’s first original scripted TV show, "," in Canada at the same time of the series’ weekly broadcasts in the United States.
Aden Young ("Killer Elite") headlines as a man released from death row after nearly 20 years for the rape and murder of his girlfriend when new DNA evidence surfaces. The psychological thriller, which co-stars Abigail Spencer (“Mad Men”), Adelaide Clemens and Clayne Crawford (“Justified”), deals with crime and punishment, forgiveness and revenge, guilt and innocence.
The six-part show, which airs Mondays at 10 p.m. ET on AMC Network’s Sundance Channel, debuted April 22.
Netflix has a content license agreement with AMC, which includes exclusive access to “Mad Men,” “Breaking Bad” and “Top of the Lake,” among others. It marks the first time Netflix is streaming a series on weekly basis instead of offering all episodes at once to facilitate binge viewing — a trend the SVOD pioneer helped create.
Episodes are also available for download on iTunes and Amazon Instant Video.
“We are pleased to be the home for "Rectify" in Canada and pleased to make such a quality series available at the same time it airs in the United States,” Sean Carey, VP of content acquisition at Netflix, said in a statement.
