Original ‘Captain America’ Movie Coming to DVD

Timed for the July 22 theatrical release of Paramount’s Captain America: The First Avenger, MGM and 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment will release a long-overlooked 1990 film to feature the character.
Offered through MGM’s “Limited Edition Collection,” Captain America will be available starting July 19 as a manufactured-on-demand title from online retailers.
Captain America stars Matt Salinger (son of author J.D. Salinger) in the title role and recounts the Star-Spangled Avenger’s origins during World War II, being frozen and returned in modern times to battle the Nazi agent Red Skull (Scott Paulin). Ned Beatty, Ronny Cox, Darren McGavin, Michael Nouri, Melinda Dillon and Bill Mumy also star.
