MOD Systems Expands Management Team

16 Feb, 2010 By: Erik Gruenwedel

MOD Systems, which is testing distribution of Hollywood movies through kiosks via Secure Digital (SD) memory cards, USB drives and portable devices, Feb. 16 said it has expanded its management team.

In addition to hiring a CFO, and marketing and operations executives, MOD Systems retained Dick Sowa to the position SVP of content licensing.

Sowa, who is running MOD's Los Angeles office and is responsible for managing relationships with Hollywood studios and other content owners, held similar positions with Sonic Solutions and InterActual Technologies, manufacturer of Digital Copy software for DVD and Blu-ray Disc.

Sowa was also formerly COO and president of distribution for the Playboy Entertainment Group, where he helped launch Playboy’s pay television and home video businesses.

“This new executive talent is exactly what we need to push forward an aggressive strategy this year to build out our platform with retail, entertainment and device partners," said Anthony Bay, CEO of MOD Systems.

The new hires come as MOD Systems, along with NCR Corp., and Toshiba Corp., roll out of their collaborative retail digital entertainment platform this year.
