Comcast Adds Remote DVR to Mobile App
2 Mar, 2010 By: Erik GruenwedelComcast Corp. March 2 said it added a new feature to its Apple iPhone and iTouch application that allows users to program their set-top box digital video recorder remotely.
The new feature available on the free Comcast Mobile downloadable app represents the latest role that the mobile phone is playing as a user interface for controlling access of entertainment in the home.
Last year marketing company Trailer Park created an application that converts select mobile phones, including the Blackberry and T-Mobile’s Android, into remote controls for Blu-ray players, among other features.
Comcast Mobile also enables customers to view and select voicemail messages, sync their address book, see real-time TV listings and watch trailers of video-on-demand (VOD) movies.
"In this age of anywhere, anytime communication, people want to stay connected, and our mobile app allows them to do that," said Cathy Avgiris, SVP and GM, communications and data services, with Comcast.
