Founder and current CEO Charlie Ergen to remain chairman of the board

Dish Network May 16 said it named Joseph Clayton president, CEO and member of the satellite TV operator’s board of directors, effective June 20.

Clayton, who was CEO and chairman of Sirius Satellite Radio through 2008, will help drive Dish’s opportunistic strategies in home entertainment, including recent acquisitions of Blockbuster and satellite operator DBSD.

“Joe brings an enormous amount of executive-level experience in the satellite and consumer electronics industries, including positions at RCA, General Electric and Thomson, and we look forward to his leadership as we continue to deliver video entertainment into the future,” current Dish CEO Charlie Ergen said in a statement.
