Image Entertainment Aug. 14 said it acquired global home entertainment distribution rights to The Who at Kilburn: 1977, a rarely seen concert featuring the acclaimed British rock group performing at the Gaumont State Theatre in North London.
Chatsworth, Calif.-based Image will release the concert, which features the next-to-last performance of drummer Keith Moon, Nov. 18 on DVD and Blu-ray.
Filmed in 35mm by six cameras with a 16-track audio recorder, the concert was originally intended as a backdrop to Jeff Stein's documentary The Kids Are Alright.
The two-disc DVD release also includes The Who's 1969 London coliseum concert performance as well as the first-ever live recorded performance of Tommy, adding up to 29 of the group's biggest hits.
“The release of this concert is a milestone in the career of a band that defined an entire music generation,” said David Borshell, president of Image.
