Survey: 65% Want Web Video on HDTVs

22 Dec, 2010 By: Chris Tribbey

Two-thirds of consumers are more likely to watch online video if they can access it on their HDTV, and half would pay for online video if their service provider offered it at a low price point, according to a new survey from Cisco Systems.

In the survey, 56% of respondents said it was important that they be able to watch online video on multiple devices. That number climbs to 72% for respondents younger than 25.

“In an on-demand, personalized world, some service providers are already voicing their intent to offer more flexibility in their pay-TV service options and associated pricing,” said Doug Webster, senior director of service provider marketing for Cisco.

Cisco’s survey found consumers willing to pay between $10 and $16 a month extra for a TV package that included online video content.
