Warner Adds Five More for Rent on Facebook

'Inception'

Warner Bros. Digital Distribution late March 27 expanded its test offering of movies available for rent directly via Facebook, adding five more titles to join The Dark Knight.

Facebook pages for Inception, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, Life as We Know It and Yogi Bear now offer “watch” options, allowing U.S.-based fans to watch the film for up to 48 hours after purchase.

Inception and Yogi Bear cost 40 Facebook credits, while Life as We Know It and the “Potter” films cost 30 each, the same price Warner charged for The Dark Knight when it launched in early March. Credits can be purchased at 15 for $1.50.

“We’re pleased to expand our test with a variety of titles that will appeal to a broad audience,” said Thomas Gewecke, president of Warner Bros. Digital Distribution. “These titles have substantial followings on Facebook. The fan pages for ‘Harry Potter’ and Inception alone are two of the most popular and active communities on the site.”
