Google Play Promoting 'Hidden Figures' to Encourage Teen Girls to Study Computer Science

4 Apr, 2017 By: John Latchem

Google Play is teaming with Google’s Made with Code to encourage teen girls to study computer science via a cross-promotion with Fox’s Hidden Figures on Digital HD.

Through the “Code for Equality” project, teen girls are invited to visit MadeWithCode.com to code their own inspirational message to honor the female mathematicians of Hidden Figures.

The promotion was unveiled in late March, which was Women’s History Month. Hidden Figures was released on Digital HD March 28, and arrives on Blu-ray and DVD April 11.

Google Play will provide members of the National Foundation for Women Legislators free access to the digital version of the movie when they host a Hidden Figures viewing and coding party in their local communities. Earlier this year, Made With Code hosted screenings of the film alongside coding parties for teen girls and policy makers in San Francisco, Texas, Georgia, Massachusetts and New York.
