13 Apr, 2015 By: John Latchem

Classic sci-fi series “Lost in Space” is getting a makeover for its 50th anniversary. All 83 episodes of the 1965-68 series have been remastered in high-definition for 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment’s release of Lost in Space: The Complete Series on Blu-ray Sept. 15 (order date Aug. 19).

The show, set in the “space age future” of 1997, chronicles the adventures of the Robinson family as they leave Earth with hopes of colonizing Alpha Centauri, but are thrown off course by sabotage. Each episode the family, along with the scheming Dr. Smith and the iconic B-9 robot, encounters new planets and alien threats.

The 18-disc set includes more than seven hours of bonus material and all-new featurettes, including excerpts from the personal archives of series creator Irwin Allen.

The Blu-ray includes an exclusive performance of an unproduced 1980 epilogue script with original cast members Bill Mumy, Angela Cartwright, Marta Kristen and Mark Goddard, among others. The set also includes new interviews with the cast, plus audio commentaries on several episodes.

Additional extras include the original unaired pilot episode, screen tests, home movies, TV spots, the 1996 Kevin Burns documentary The Fantasy Worlds of Irwin Allen, the A&E “Biography” special on Dr. Smith actor Jonathan Harris, photo galleries, original CBS network versions of episodes, and more.
