Denise Austin Gets Apps

Fitness superstar Denise Austin is going mobile.

Lionsgate will launch Denise Austin Fit in 5 — Workouts on iTunes Nov. 15. The mobile app is priced at $1.99 and is compatible with the iPhone and iPad. Lionsgate also has plans to make the app available for Android and Microsoft mobile stores and devices.

The app has 10 five-minute toning workouts that each target a different part of the body and include a warm up and cool down segments.

“I’m thrilled to have my first mobile fitness app, which lets people take my workouts with them on the go,” Austin said. “You’ll have instant access to my best at-home exercise routines and daily motivational tips, plus quick and healthy recipes your family will love. My new app is perfect for anyone who wants to lose weight and get in shape in a way that fits a busy lifestyle.”

The workouts are taken from Denise Austin: Hit the Spot — 10 Five-Minute Target Toners DVD.

The app has a custom workout option to build a customized workout, name it and save it, as well as a music-only option.

Users also can get better connected to Austin through links that lead to the fitness icon’s Twitter and Facebook pages, trailers for her DVDs, links to buy her DVDs and a link for a free 30-day trial.

“It’s a chance for us to expand our reach to Denise’s current fan base in addition to creating fans on a whole new platform,” said Kajsa Vikman, VP of marketing and fitness at Lionsgate. “The way people are consuming content is changing, and as a leader in the fitness business, Lionsgate is proud to be at the forefront of this movement by bringing top brands into the fitness mobile space.”

The launch of the mobile app is timed to arrive right before Austin’s latest two new DVDs. Shrink Your Fat Zones Pilates (DVD $14.98) and Quick Burn Cardio (DVD $14.98) street Nov. 30.

Shrink Your Fat Zones Pilates features Austin leading three workouts that separately target abs and core, upper body, and buns and thighs. Quick Burn Cardio features two 20-minute cardio circuit-training programs.
