This film, based on the best-selling children's book The Story of an African Farm, is expertly acted.

Two orphan girls live with their harsh and selfish Aunt Sannie. Farm manager Otto is the gentle friend of his son Waldo, a black child, and the girls. When flimflam man Bonaparte Blenkins enters the picture, Otto is shunned and the children try to keep Blenkins from winning the affections and favor of their aunt. The children's antics try to expose the conniving Blenkins.

It's a great story for children — or anyone for that matter — who have been confronted with implacable and selfish adults.

Plus, the book has been feted by “Oprah,” and the film premiered at the Cannes Film Festival.
