Codeblack, YouTube Bow Urban Channel2 Oct, 2008 By: Erik Gruenwedel
Codeblack Interactive, the digital division of Codeblack Enterprises LLC, distributor of urban theatrical and DVD content, has partnered with social networking site YouTube to disseminate original short-form content.
The first slated original content at www.youtube.com/codeblacktv will feature an unnamed series from Yamara Taylor, head writer with “The Boondocks,” an animated series on Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim created by Aaron McGruder and based on his eponymous comic strip.
The ad-supported channel also features Codeblack’s extensive library of urban fare, including comedies with Steve Harvey and Eddie Griffin, and feature films starring Cuba Gooding Jr., Vivica A. Fox, Gabrielle Union, Mo’Nique and others.
“The new partnership … is significant in its recognition of black viewers within YouTube’s wildly popular community,” said Quincy Newell, president of Codeblack Interactive.
