Adapting “Star Wars” for television has been hit-and-miss over the years, but “The Clone Wars” is probably the best attempt so far. The CG-animated series successfully captures the tone of the movies while telling original stories that flesh out the greater canvas of the “Star Wars” universe. The show takes place between Episode II and Episode III of the prequel films.

The first season is a must-have for “Star Wars” fans and includes seven extended episodes, as well as making-of featurettes on all 22, plus a nice behind-the-scenes booklet. The Blu-ray takes fans a step further with “The Jedi Temple Archives,” a database of concept art and early animation designs.
