“Adventure Time” is one of the quirkiest animated shows to come along in a while, but don’t let that stop you from checking it out. It is fun, colorful and at times even touching.
The show chronicles the exploits of a human boy named Finn and his best friend, Jake the shape-shifting dog, as they embark on peculiar adventures in the fantasy-driven Land of Ooo. Despite the strange setting, the stories are easily relatable tales of friendship.
Jake is unmistakably voiced by “Futurama” star John DiMaggio, whose distinctive line readings are one of the key reasons this world seems so believable.
The disc includes the first-season episodes “My Two Favorite People,” “Evicted,” “Ricardio the Heart Guy,” “Trouble in Lumpy Space,” “Tree Trunks” and “Dungeon,” and the second-season episodes “The Pods,” “The Limit,” “Go With Me,” “The Eyes,” “The Chamber of Frozen Blades” and “To Cut a Woman’s Hair.”
There’s not much here in the way of extras, other than a few character profiles to inform viewers new to the show.
