Despite its broadband service being ranked fastest by Netflix, cabler loses 9,000 high-speed data subs
Cablevision Aug. 5 reported a second-quarter (ended June 30) video subscriber base of more than 2.7 million people, which was down 97,000 subs from the prior-year period. Through the first half of the year, the Manhattan, N.Y.-based cable operator has shed 186,000 video subscribers.
Meanwhile, the company’s Optimum Online broadband ranked 1st in streaming speed among domestic ISPs in June with 3.1 megabits per second, according to Netflix’s monthly ISP speed index.
Yet, Cablevision lost 9,000 high-speed ISP subscribers in the quarter to finish with more than 2.7 million.
