Samsung Electronics America March 14 reiterated the pending launch of a new 4K Blu-ray Disc player (UBD-M9500) that features Bluetooth functionality as an upgrade to last year’s UBD-K8500.
The unit — which hits retail stores in April for $399 — enables users to watch live TV and simultaneously stream content from a Blu-ray Disc to a portable media device.
The M9500 also automatically signals a compatible 4K UHD television when high dynamic range (HDR) content is streamed.
The new 4K BD player compliments Samsung’s new line of QLED televisions, designed as both home entertainment media hubs and HD screen.
“This year, we are taking smart features, craftsmanship and creativity to new heights,” Dave Das, SVP of consumer electronics marketing, said in a statement.
