French 4K Blu-ray Disc Unit Sales Topped 60,000 in 2016

Sales of 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray Disc movies in France topped 60,000 units at the end of 2016, according to new data from Blu-ray Partners, a French consortium of industry players, including Paramount Home Media Distribution, Fox Pathé Europa, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment, Studio Canal, Universal Pictures Home Entertainment, Warner Bros. Entertainment France and Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment, among others.
The new HD packaged media format launched last April with a suggested retail price of 29.99 euros ($31.88).
Top-selling titles included (in order): Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (Warner) with 5,197 units; Warcraft: The Beginning (Universal) with 4,120 units; Seul sur Mars (Fox’s The Martian) with 2,928 units; X-Men: Apocalypse (2,860); Warner’s Suicide Squad (2,444); Paramount’s Star Trek Beyond (1,902); Universal’s Jason Bourne (1,837); Fox’s Independence Day: Resurgence (1,810); Warner’s Creed (1,736) and The Legend of Tarzan (1,581); Sony’s La 5ème Vague (The 5th Wave) with 1,489 units; Warner’s Mad Max: Fury Road (1,433); Fox's Exodus: Gods & Kings (1,217); Kingsman (1,118); and Independence Day: 20th Anniversary Edition (1,009 units).
