Fox Bows ‘Grapes of Wrath,’ ‘Zorba’ on Blu-ray

20th Century Fox Home Entertainment will release the critically acclaimed classics The Grapes of Wrath and Zorba the Greek on Blu-ray June 5.
Additionally, the Blu-rays will be available early on April 3 exclusively through new-and-used movie and soundtrack seller . The discs are listed there at $29.95 each.
The Grapes of Wrath, based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning novel of the same name, by John Steinbeck, about a family of Oakies traveling to California during the Great Depression, was directed by four-time Academy Award winner John Ford and stars Henry Fonda, John Carradine and Jane Darwell. The film won two Oscars, for Best Director (Ford) and Best Actress (Darwell), and was nominated for seven total. The Blu-ray includes a commentary track with film scholar Joseph McBride and Steinbeck scholar Susan Shilllinglaw, the featurette “Fox Movie Channel presents Fox Legacy with Tom Rothman,” the A&E Biography program “Darryl F. Zanuck: 20th Century Filmmaker” and a Fox Movietone News featurette.
Zorba the Greek stars Academy Award winners Anthony Quinn and Lila Kedrova in the story about a shy British writer on the Greek island of Crete who is befriended by a passionate man who changes his life. The Blu-ray includes commentary by director Michael Cacoyannis and professor Demetrios Liappas, the A&E Biography special “Anthony Quinn: A Lust for Life,” an alternate introduction and a Fox Movietone News featurette.
