'Chinatown'

Paramount Home Entertainment on April 3 (Prebook Feb. 21) releases classic noir film Chinatown on Blu-ray at $24.99.

Directed by Roman Polanski (Carnage), Chinatown stars Jack Nicholson as a private investigator exploring a mystery surrounding water rights and a web of family secrets in 1930s Los Angeles. The film is widely considered one of the best ever made, appearing in AFI’s Top 25 American films of all time.

Among the more than two-and-a-half hours of bonus material is a commentary by screenwriter Robert Towne and filmmaker David Fincher (The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo). The release also will include a three-part documentary on the history and impact of the Los Angeles Aqueduct as well as current water cultivation efforts in Los Angeles, an appreciation of the film by such filmmakers as Steven Soderberg, and three featurettes on the making of the film and its legacy.

The release also includes a reproduction of the original film poster and a booklet.
