Blockbuster Express to Offer ‘Black Swan’ on Street Date

Blockbuster Express kiosks, beginning March 29, will offer Black Swan, starring Oscar winner for Best Actress Natalie Portman, on the title’s street date.
The title from 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment will be available for $2.99 on DVD for the first night and $1 per night thereafter. The movie is also available on Blu-ray Disc for $3.99 the first night and $1 per night thereafter.
Express kiosks, which are owned and operated by NCR Corp. under a license agreement with Dallas-based Blockbuster, has been testing higher-priced new releases at 900 kiosks in four markets since last December with success, according to spokesperson Jeff Dudash.
“Beginning tomorrow this title will be available at all of our [nearly 9,000] kiosks nationwide,” Dudash said. “We have some other titles in the pipeline.”
By comparison, Black Swan won’t be available at Redbox or from Netflix until April 26, due to 28-day embargoes imposed by Fox.
Blockbuster Express previously tested higher-priced street date kiosk rentals with Warner Home Video’s Inception and Fox’s Knight and Day, The A-Team and Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps.
