'Martian,' 'Mr. Robot' Discs Well-Timed to Take Advantage of Golden Globe Wins

Amazon’s 'Mozart in the Jungle' Takes Two Awards
The timing couldn’t be better for Fox’s The Martian and Universal’s Mr. Robot: Season 1. Both titles are set to arrive on Blu-ray and DVD Tuesday, Jan. 12, just days after big wins at the 73rd annual Golden Globe Awards.
In the film categories, The Martian won Best Motion Picture — Comedy and Musical and Best Actor for Matt Damon at the ceremony presented Jan. 10 by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association.
The big winner was Fox’s The Revenant, a recent theatrical release. The film won Best Motion Picture — Drama, Best Actor for Leonardo DiCaprio and Best Director for Alejandro G. Iñárritu.
Steve Jobs, available on Digital HD Feb. 2 and on DVD and Blu-ray Feb. 16 from Universal, won Best Supporting Actress for Kate Winslet and Best Screenplay for Aaron Sorkin.
Disney’s Inside Out, which has been available on disc for a few months, won Best Animated Feature Film.
The James Bond movie Spectre, due on Digital HD Jan. 22 and on DVD and Blu-ray Feb. 9 from Fox, won Best Original Song for “Writing’s on the Wall.”
In the TV categories, “Mr. Robot” won Best Television Series — Drama and Best Supporting Actor for Christian Slater.
Representing online programming, Amazon Video’s “Mozart in the Jungle” also won two awards, taking Best Television Series — Comedy or Musical and Best Actor for Gael García Bernal.
