Amazon has begun offering video-on-demand credits to consumers who send in select DVD and Blu-ray Disc titles.
Specifically, the e-commerce behemoth is giving consumers a $10 credit at Amazon Instant Video — the service’s transactional VOD and electronic sellthrough platform — for every $25 worth of DVDs or Blu-ray titles received in good condition with proof of purchase through Jan. 23, 2012.
An undisclosed third-party merchant will purchase the trade-in titles, according to Amazon.
Among Blu-ray titles accepted are Up (four-disc Blu-ray/DVD/BD Live combo), which generates $8.40 trade-in value, while Mr. & Mrs. Smith garners $1.50. Iron-Man 2 (three disc BD/DVD/digital copy combo) receives up to $7.40 in VOD credit.
Specific DVD titles receive higher trade-in value, including The Hangover ($1.20 value), The Blind Side ($1.25) and The Big Bang Theory: The Complete Second Season (up to $11 trade-in).
