Going ‘Mad’ Over Exclusives

The biggest question concerning copies of DreamWorks’ Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted upon its Oct. 16 release was, where shoppers could get Marty’s rainbow wig.
The wig is standard-issue with copies of the Blu-ray combo pack of the film.
However, Best Buy offered an exclusive 3D Blu-ray combo pack that included the wig. Walmart stuffed the wig with copies of the DVD version.
Walmart also had an exclusive bare-bones DVD of the film for $14.96, and a wigless BD combo for $24.96.
Toys “R” Us offered the Madagascar 3 DVD for $15.99 with a Ty penguin plush. It had the Blu-ray wig pack for $22.99 and the 3D Blu-ray for $27.99.
Target’s “Madagascar” exclusive centered on a DVD trilogy pack of the franchise, offered at $24.99.
Also at Target, fans of “Mad Men” could pick up copies of season five with an exclusive “Inside the Actors Studio” interview.
Best Buy offered free pumpkin-carving stencil kits with purchase of select Disney movies $6.99 and up, including Hocus Pocus.
