The big promotion at Target for the new-release week of April 29 tied into “National Princess Celebration,” with the chain offering big deals on Disney Princess products. In particular, shoppers could get $5 off any Disney Princess Blu-ray with the purchase of a Disney Princess Sparkle doll for $9.99.

Target also offered an exclusive Blu-ray combo pack of Paramount’s Labor Day, containing a bonus disc with 20 minutes of exclusive extras, including a look at the film’s signature pie-making scene.

Target also promoted several recent discs of movies based on books by touting the paperback versions, including Paramount’s The Wolf of Wall Street and Fox’s 12 Years a Slave and The Book Thief.

Best Buy promoted the May 2 theatrical release of The Amazing Spider-Man 2 by offering $10 theater vouchers and 100 bonus My Best Buy points with the purchase of select Sony Pictures Marvel movies, such as the original Spider-Man Trilogy, the first The Amazing Spider-Man and Avengers Confidential. Target and Walmart also had copies of the individual "Spider-Man" movies on Blu-ray with the $10 vouchers, $8 apiece at Target and $9.96 at Walmart.

Target also had a display of past seasons of "24" to promote the 24: Live Another Day miniseries. The releases, priced at $9.99 each, had a sticker that shoppers could scan with their phones to see a preview of the miniseries.
