Warner Creating ‘Mortal Kombat’ Online Series

31 Jan, 2011 By: John Latchem

Warner Premiere is developing a live-action digital series based on the “Mortal Kombat” video game franchise.

The series will be timed for release with the latest “Mortal Kombat” game (due April 19 for PS3 and Xbox 360) and will be directed by Kevin Tancharoen, best known for his popular unofficial fan short Mortal Kombat: Rebirth, which garnered more than 10 million views.

The series will take gamers deeper into the history of the characters, and shooting will start in early February in Vancouver. Episodes will be available this spring through online digital retailers from Warner Bros. Digital Distribution.

Also, Warner Home Video April 19 (order date March 15) will release to Blu-ray the films Mortal Kombat and Mortal Kombat: Annihilation at $19.98 each.
