PBS Contracts New Fulfillment Platform

Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) has selected Global-QVC Solutions to develop and operate a new technology, customer service and fulfillment platform for PBS' consumer and education products, including the PBS Home Video catalog, the shopPBS.com Web site, on-air offers and business-to-business distribution.

"Our consumer and educational products segment has been an important business to PBS and has contributed to our ability to fund more programming," said PBS EVP Judy Harris. "We believe we can achieve higher sales and profitability for our consumer and educational products business by partnering with a company that has greater scope in all aspects of direct to consumer sales and offers an enhanced technology infrastructure and improved customer experience."

The PBS consumer and educational products business consists of DVDs, videocassettes, books, music and clothing based on PBS programming and the PBS logo. The new platform is expected to launch late this year.

"PBS has built one of the largest and most successful consumer products businesses of any television network,” said Global-QVC Solutions president Damon Mintzer. “By leveraging strong programming and the full spectrum of direct to consumer sales channels, PBS has truly connected with their viewers. We are excited to partner with such a high caliber television programmer."
