Fox to Offer Movies Early on Digital HD
Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment is set to release 'Prometheus' on electronic sellthrough about three weeks ahead of the title’s Oct. 11 retail release on disc. The Ridley Scott-directed Sci-fi thriller, which generated $126 million at the domestic box office, will also be Fox’s first UltraViolet release.

Entertainment One Acquires Alliance Films
Entertainment One (eOne) confirmed Sept. 7 it’s buying fellow Canadian company Alliance Films for CAD $225 million, an acquisition that marks eOne as one of the largest independent distributors in international markets.

Projections: Playing It 'Safe' With the Charts
The top new releases of Sept. 4 include Lionsgate’s actioner 'Safe,' which grossed $17.1 million at the domestic box office, and Universal’s romantic comedy 'The Five-Year Engagement,' which earned $28.7 million. Holdovers 'Battleship' and 'The Hunger Games' should continue to perform well.
