Paramount Home Entertainment’s release of DreamWorks’ Eagle Eye, an action thriller that grossed $101.1 million in United States, soared to the top spot on both the Nielsen VideoScan First Alert sales chart and Home Media Magazine’s rental chart its first full week of release.
The home entertainment market proved a lot more stable in 2008 than many had feared. Final figures for the year show consumers spent an estimated $22.4 billion buying and renting home entertainment software, down just 5.5% from the previous year’s $23.7 billion.
