DEG Adds 12 New Member Companies

Home entertainment trade association DEG: The Digital Entertainment Group March 10 announced the addition of 12 new member companies — Alchemy, Comcast, DIRECTV, DreamWorks Animation, Imax, MGM, Playster, Sellthru Co, The Orchard, Testronic Laboratories, Verizon Digital Media Services and Yekra.

“Just as the industry evolves, so must the DEG,” said Amy Jo Smith, president of DEG. “We are delighted to welcome 12 new member companies who represent various aspects of the industry, but all with the same mission: to help grow the industry and provide improved ways for consumers to enjoy content.”

Alchemy is a leading independent distributor of film and television content across all platforms and windows in North America. The company is a leading supplier to digital platforms including iTunes, Netflix and VOD. Alchemy owns a catalog of 665 film titles and has deals for the ongoing distribution of film titles and programming for clients including PBS Distribution, Classic Media, NCircle, eOne, Magnolia, MPI Home Media, Funimation, Well Go USA, Music Box Films, Inception, Gravitas Ventures and Hammer Horror, among others.

Comcast Cable is the largest video, high-speed Internet and phone provider to residential customers in America.

DirecTV is a leading providers of digital television entertainment services delivering a premium video experience.

DreamWorks Animation creates CG animated feature films, television specials and series and live entertainment properties meant for audiences around the world.

Imax combines proprietary software, architecture and equipment to create a large-format theatrical screen experience. As of Sept. 30, 2014, there were 880 Imax theaters in 60 countries.
