Blockbuster Express Expands Presence in Southeast
13 Oct, 2010 By: Erik GruenwedelNCR Corp. Oct. 13 said it will install Blockbuster Express rental kiosks in 207 Bi-Lo grocery stores throughout South Carolina, North Carolina, Georgia and Tennessee.
Duluth, Ga.-based NCR owns and operates about 7,000 Blockbuster Express kiosks through a license agreement with Dallas-based Blockbuster.
Rollout of Express kiosks (www.blockbusterexpress.com) includes supplanting 168 units from competing DVD rental vendors, according to NCR.
Despite Blockbuster’s bankruptcy and well-reported debt issues, the brand remains synonymous with packaged media rentals, according to Justin Hotard, VP and GM of NCR Entertainment.
“Now Bi-Lo customers can choose a DVD from our Blockbuster Express kiosks as they shop for their groceries,” Hotard said in a statement.
