Fry’s Electronics is now selling an unnamed 3D Blu-ray Disc player with Wi-Fi and embedded Netflix and YouTube apps for $49.99.
The regional consumer electronics chain included the price point in its Nov. 16 “Pre-Black Friday Specials” newspaper circular, which also featured a wireless Panasonic 3D Blu-ray with Netflix and YouTube apps included with select 3DTV purchases.
A 3D-enabled Blu-ray player, which also plays conventional 2D discs, requires a compatible 3DTV and appropriate 3D eyewear when viewing 3D content.
Fry’s joins a growing number of big-box retailers offering Blu-ray players less than $50 to start the winter holidays. Walmart thus far has the lowest-priced BD player at $38.99, available Thanksgiving evening after 8 p.m.
Fry’s is also selling assorted catalog DVD movies for $4.99, Blu-ray titles for $7.99 and new releases for $9.99.
